Asbestos Encapsulation
Safe and Effective Protection Against Asbestos
Safe and Effective Protection Against Asbestos
Spray Cork is a certified solution which can safely encapsulate the asbestos.
Our specialist spray-applied protective coating for asbestos roofs provides a cost-effective solution without causing any disturbance to the existing asbestos cement sheet roof. This process of encapsulating the roof enhances its structural soundness and extends its lifespan by several decades, effectively eliminating the need for a costly and disruptive roof replacement.

Encapsulation is the process of applying a protective layer to the material, which encloses the asbestos fibres within it. Not only does this help to contain the asbestos, but it also protects it from future damage.
Spray Cork has now been certified for asbestos encapsulation, providing protection against dangerous asbestos fibres and preventing it from going to landfill. Spray Cork comes with a 15-year product warranty for asbestos encapsulation, before it would need re–spraying to provide continued protection.
Asbestos encapsulation can be used on domestic properties as well as industrial units, but asbestos needs to be in sound condition before it is encapsulated, otherwise it will need to be removed by a specialist.
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) asbestos materials in good condition are considered safe unless asbestos fibres become airborne, which happens when materials become damaged. When it becomes damaged or reaches the end of its lifespan, these dangerous fibres can be released into the air, which can then be inhaled and potentially cause serious illness. If it is damaged, it will need to be removed by a specialist contractor.
Whilst removal may seem like the obvious choice, it’s often best to leave any asbestos that is in good condition as it is, as removal can cause it to become damaged and release its dangerous fibres. Removal can also be complicated, expensive and needs to be carried out by specialist teams.
As much of the asbestos used in the UK will be reaching its natural end of life, it is possible to encapsulate it rather than remove it – as long as it is still intact. As it doesn’t disturb the asbestos, the risk of dangerous airborne particles are reduced, making encapsulation a safer option that removal. Encapsulating it also keeps the asbestos out of landfill.
(Euro-class B safety rating), water resistant and breathable (this helps prevent mould and damp, gives people a healthier living and working space).
The cork tree evolved in coastal regions around the Mediterranean, giving cork material a totally natural resistant to salty air. So a CorkSol SprayCork coating is the natural partner for seaside walls.
No trees are felled in the production of SprayCork. The cork in our material is harvested, leaving the trees to regrow. As they do so the forest’s CO2 absorption increases. This incredible natural process means that cork content in SprayCork coating of the average UK house is enough to offset over 500Kg of CO2 emissions.
Cork’s well-known properties are flexibility and elasticity. As the most flexible coating product in the market, it effectively repairs current cracks and prevents future cracking.
With a 25 year manufacturer’s warranty and an ability to deal with anything the British weather can throw at it, an investment in Spray Cork coating will perform for decades, keeping your walls dry and warm.
Cork’s natural resistance to organic growth keeps it looking cleaner far longer than alternatives. And it’s easy to wash off any marks or stains which may accidentally occur.
